From the uppermost alpine buildings of the Goms, there is a variety of buildings along the Rhone down to Chablais over a distance of about 150 kilometres. However, the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum presents the building materials and construction methods that are most typical of Valais and have shaped them for centuries in several examples.
