Text: Lorenz von FeltenIn April 1951, on behalf of the "Bureau international des containers", the "Swiss Museum of Transport Association" organised the International Container Exhibition in Zurich for the exchange of experience. It provided an overview of the "current status of container, bucket and crate traffic", as was later reported in the SBB newsletter.

175 years ago, the first railway line in Switzerland, Zurich – Baden, was ceremoniously inaugurated on 7 August. On 5 August 1847, the management of the Swiss Northern Railway Company (SNB) announced that the first railway line, Zurich – Baden, would be opened to public transport four days later.

In the wild 1970s, mainly the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha began to build motorcycles with inline four-cylinder engines. These engines were extremely powerful by the standards of the time. The landing gears and brakes, on the other hand, struggled to keep up with the great power of the engines.

The new image film of the Swiss Museum of Transport impressively shows that it is more than a museum – it is a place where dreams are lived. With emotional images and personal stories, the film invites viewers to immerse themselves in the world of mobility.

By Daniel Charles*Until 1925, every day in Graubünden was car-free, because automobiles were forbidden there. In other cantons, on the other hand, a driving ban only applied on Sundays.
